Trenches Slang Meaning In Nigeria

The word ‘trenches’ is commonly used by rappers. Trenches mean a low-income area with a lot of criminal activity and violence records. Trenches are used mainly by hip-hop rappers. The word is not being used and recognized in Nigeria only, but it trends in Nigeria more than in other countries.

The main reason why Trenches became a common language among the youth is due to the rapid harassment caused by SARS officers and NDLEA operatives. Thou, most of the youths using this language are internet fraudsters. They usually say they love to leave in the trenches because there is usually peace of mind over there.

Recall that I said trenches do have criminal activity and violence records, but it’s so hard for officers to get anybody arrested there. It’s just like a community where officers do not have supreme rights over the community members. Trenches are being controlled by either their Kabiyesi or Baale.

Kanye West, Eminem, Lil Durk, Trippie Redd, Future, Lil Baby, Meek Mill, Polo G, Luxury Tax, J. I, the Prince of New York, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and many other rappers have used the term “Trenches” in the lyrics of their music.
