The Enugu State government has expressed its appreciation towards the United Kingdom government for establishing a visa centre within the state.

This initiative aims to streamline and facilitate the process of visa applications for residents in Enugu State, as well as individuals from the broader South-East region and the entire country.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Chidiebere Onyia, issued a statement in which he recalled that the establishment of the visa centre had been a pivotal topic of discussion during the visit of the UK High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Richard Montgomery, to the Government House in Enugu in June of this year.

The statement further conveyed the government’s elation upon receiving the news of the visa centre’s creation. It emphasised that this development holds great significance as it is expected to bolster economic collaborations and foster cultural exchanges between Enugu State and the United Kingdom. This mutually beneficial partnership will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and prosperity of both regions.

“The Enugu State Government therefore looks forward to a strong, mutually beneficial relationship with the UK, as the visa centre would help cement the relationship”, the statement added. 

The government extended an earnest invitation to the populace, with a particular emphasis on those residing in the South-East region, to make the most of this opportunity to submit their visa applications within the State. They affirmed their commitment to enhancing security measures to safeguard both residents and visitors conducting business activities within the State.

Furthermore, the government reiterated its unwavering stance on being exceptionally receptive to business and investment. Enugu State stands more open to these opportunities than it ever has before, signalling a welcoming environment for economic growth and development.
