A young Nigerian man recently surprised his girlfriend by proposing to her during a prayer session in church. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the couple can be seen standing on the altar together while a group of people hold up a banner behind them which reads “Will You Marry Me”.

The man had planned the proposal in advance, but his girlfriend had no idea what was happening. They closed their eyes to pray, and while the woman thought her boyfriend was praying for the offering, he actually finished and made his way to the podium.

As the woman opened her eyes and turned to leave, she saw the banner and immediately became emotional. She fell to her knees with tears in her eyes, and it was then that her boyfriend brought out a ring and went down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage.
