Kidnappers must be regarded as terrorists – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has expressed strong disapproval of the increasing incidence of kidnapping throughout the country, emphasizing the need for those involved to be regarded as terrorists.

Tinubu conveyed this sentiment during a Ramadan dinner on Tuesday, where he was joined by members of the Federal judiciary, under the leadership of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

According to the president, “It is imperative that we treat kidnappers as terrorists, as they exhibit cowardly behavior. They have been reduced to a lower state and specifically target vulnerable individuals. They brazenly enter educational institutions to abduct children, causing widespread unrest.”

To effectively combat this menace, Tinubu stressed the importance of treating kidnappers on par with terrorists, asserting, “We must address them as such to eradicate their existence. I assure you, we will eliminate them.”

The Ramadan dinner witnessed the presence of both active and retired judicial officers, including two former CJNs, Justice Mahmud Mohammed and Justice Walter Onnoghen.
