IPOB Alleges Military Targeting Igbos Under Pretense of Fighting Terrorism

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has voiced its accusations against the Nigerian military, alleging that they are attacking Igbos while claiming to be pursuing terrorists.

Emma Powerful, IPOB’s spokesperson, made these claims while highlighting the military’s actions in Uli, Anambra State, where houses were reportedly burned down under the guise of searching for criminals.

According to Powerful, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, the Nigerian military invaded the peaceful community of Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State, and set fire to numerous homes and properties belonging to Igbo indigenes.

“The Indigenous People of Biafra, led by the great prophet and liberator, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, strongly condemns the terrorist attacks carried out by the Nigerian military in the peaceful community of Uli in Ihiala, Anambra State.

“The Nigerian military has burned down numerous houses in Uli, Anambra State, under the guise of searching for criminals, and this has not been adequately reported by the media.

“We must recall that just last week, we raised the alarm over the burning and destruction of homes and properties belonging to Ndigbo in Umulolo, Okigwe LGA, Imo State, by the Nigerian military.

“Do the Nigerian military burn down the houses of innocent people in other parts of Nigeria? Do they destroy properties in Northern Nigeria when pursuing terrorists and bandits that plague the North?

“The southeastern region of Nigeria has experienced numerous terrorist attacks, resulting in mass killings, destruction of properties, and the forced disappearance of many youths by the Nigerian Security Forces and their collaborators, the Fulani terrorist herdsmen. These attacks have only escalated under the administrations of Mohammed Buhari and now Bola Tinubu under the APC government,” the statement read.
