The residents of Ibadan in Oyo State are currently facing difficulties due to the sudden scarcity of naira notes in the ancient city.

Over the past few days, Ibadan has been experiencing a shortage of naira notes, which worsened during the weekend, according to Vistanaij Media.

Vistanaij Media correspondent conducted an investigation in various parts of Ibadan on Saturday and Sunday and discovered that a majority of residents were affected by the situation.

Many Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in the city are not dispensing cash, leading to widespread complaints among residents.

Vistanaij Media found that only a few ATMs were dispensing a maximum of N5,000 to customers, while some restricted withdrawals to account holders of the respective banks.

ATMs in locations such as Iwo Road, Agodi Secretariat, Awolowo junction, Bodija, Sango, University of Ibadan, and Agodi Gate were visited during the investigation.

Mrs. Ifeoluwa, a bank customer who spoke with Vistanaij Media at one of the banks in Awolowo junction on Sunday, expressed her frustration. She mentioned visiting multiple banks in her attempt to withdraw cash but was disappointed as none of them dispensed any money.

Another resident named Kolade expressed surprise at the situation occurring at this time of the year and called for a government intervention to address the issue.

As of the time of filing this report on Monday, the scarcity of naira notes and the inability of ATMs to dispense cash persisted in Ibadan, according to Vistanaij Media.
