Dagogo Farah, a former member of the National Assembly from Rivers State, has praised the outcome of the 98th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to Farah, the meeting demonstrated the party’s resilience in the face of adversity.

Before the meeting, there were speculations that the focus would be on managing the leadership transition in the North Central Zone, particularly due to the premature end of Iyiorchia Ayu’s tenure, which raised concerns.

After the meeting, Farah expressed his admiration for the timely sacrifices made by individuals who prioritized the interests of the party. He specifically credited Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for his political maturity in averting crises.

In a statement released by his Media and Publicity Advisor, Farah expressed optimism that Acting Chairman Umar Damagum would recognize, by the adjourned August meeting, that stepping down from his position would serve the party’s best interests and allow for more purposeful and results-oriented leadership.

Farah commented, “From my perspective, the outcome of the NEC Meeting was a win-win situation. Despite all challenges, the party emerged unscathed and will continue to grow stronger. While the Acting Chairman retained his position, it has become evident to him and others that it would be in the party’s best interest for him to relinquish that position in favor of a more purposeful and results-oriented leadership by August.”

He further stated that the tension created in the lead-up to the NEC meeting was orchestrated by a few individuals with an insatiable desire to undermine the party’s leadership and direction. However, the party did not fall into their trap, thanks to the political maturity and wisdom demonstrated by the party’s National Leader and Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, along with other leaders. Farah attributed the current state of the party to their sacrifices and dedication.
