The Olugbode family, representing the Ejitunde Ruling House in Ola town, Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, has appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to reverse the appointment of Oba Johnson Ajiboye as the Olola of Ola town.

In a letter written by their lawyer, Fatimah Adesina, on behalf of the family, the Olugbode family expressed their opposition to the state government’s decision to proceed with the appointment while a court case concerning the stool was still ongoing.

The family cited a court case marked HEJ/2/2020, filed by David Salako and three other members of the Olugbode family against Ajiboye and 20 others, including the Osun State Attorney General and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. They highlighted that a court order had been granted on December 7, 2020, restraining all parties from taking any action related to the matter until the case was concluded.

Adesina emphasized that the appointment of Ajiboye was in violation of the court order, which had been communicated to Governor Adeleke in a letter dated June 5, 2023.

The family expressed surprise and disappointment upon learning of the Governor’s decision to approve Ajiboye’s candidacy despite being aware of the pending court case and the existing order of interlocutory injunction restraining such approvals.

The lawyer urged Governor Adeleke to wait for the final outcome and decision of the court before making any further decisions regarding the appointment. Adesina emphasized that disregarding the law would lead to anarchy and should not be encouraged by the state government.
