Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Sets Date for TID Rollover Implementation

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (Enugu DisCo) has revealed that the Token Identifier (TID) rollover will commence by the end of February 2024.

In a statement by Emeka Ezeh, the Head of Corporate Communications at Enugu DisCo, customers were notified that upgrading their meters is mandatory to avoid losing their meters and experiencing a disruption in power supply.

After the rollover, customers’ first energy purchase will include three sets of 20-digit tokens: KCT1, KCT2, and the energy token. The first 20 digits (KCT1) are meant to reset the meter, the second 20 digits (KCT2) are for meter upgrade, and the third 20 digits (energy token) are for recharging the meter and completing the upgrade process.

Customers are instructed to enter the first 20 digits (KCT1) followed by “enter,” then enter the second 20 digits (KCT2) followed by “enter,” and finally enter the third 20 digits (energy token) to complete the upgrade.

Enugu DisCo had previously informed its customers that prepaid meters in its network would stop accepting credit tokens after November 24, 2024, unless they were upgraded.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has also encouraged electricity consumers to upgrade their meters at no cost.
