On Friday evening, February 24, a vehicle belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) that was transporting election materials, including NSCDC security personnel, to Lagos state, was involved in an accident at the Giri Roundabout bridge in Abuja.

According to an eyewitness, it is unclear whether the accident was caused by a burst tyre, but some of the officers who were seated at the back of the vehicle sustained severe injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital in Gwagwalada. A video that has been circulating online shows several individuals helping to gather the election materials that had been scattered on the road
