The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members at the NYSC Akwa-Ibom State Orientation Camp, the Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, emphasized the importance of respecting the culture and traditions of host communities. He urged Corps members to uphold values such as tolerance, humility, diligence, respect, and peaceful coexistence, as they represent the NYSC.

General Ahmed also highlighted the significance of engaging in personal or group Community Development Service projects that can enhance the quality of life for residents in their host communities. He encouraged Corps members to view their service year as an opportunity for personal growth and development.

“Upon arriving at your assigned communities, it is crucial that you take the given instructions seriously,” General Ahmed stated. “To earn respect, you must show respect to the people you serve and be mindful of the local culture, norms, and traditions.”

During the Director General’s visit, Mrs Chinyere Ekwe, the NYSC Akwa-Ibom State Coordinator, provided a camp situation report, revealing that a total of 1,580 Corps members (809 males and 771 females) had been registered at that time.
