Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has expressed that the problems faced by Nigeria, including the current economic hardships, are not solely caused by politicians. He emphasized that civil servants and technocrats also contribute significantly to these challenges.

Kalu made these remarks during a courtesy visit by attendees of the Platform Public Service Boot camp at the National Assembly in Abuja on Thursday.

He emphasized the importance of introducing digitisation in the public service sector, suggesting that an auditing app could promote accountability and productivity.

Recognising the youth as the driving force of the nation, the lawmaker noted that many young people do not fully grasp the concept of public service, often misconstruing it as merely a means of livelihood.

The Deputy Speaker further emphasized that public service goes beyond a job; it is a commitment to the betterment of society, a noble calling, and, above all, a duty that must be fulfilled to secure the nation.

The Platform Public Service Boot camp is a transformative program aimed at reshaping the mindset of Nigerian youths, promoting inclusion, and fostering youth development across all sectors.
