Farah Dagogo, a federal lawmaker from Rivers State and a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dismissed suggestions that the party’s support in the Niger Delta region has weakened.

Dagogo firmly denied allegations that loyal PDP members have scattered and abandoned their support for the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, Dagogo refuted claims made by some individuals that Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the former PDP presidential aspirant and immediate past governor of the state, engaged in activities that were detrimental to the party. He asserted that PDP members in the South-South region remain resolute and steadfast in their support.

Dagogo, who represents the Degema/Bonny federal constituency, expressed confidence that Atiku will eventually reclaim his mandate as the rightful winner of the presidential election held on February 25. 

In his words, “Let me also use this opportunity to douse any insinuation that Atiku’s core supporters in Rivers State and by extension the Niger Delta, have deserted the Turaki Adamawa. 

“It is preposterous, unfounded and false. The truth is that, the core support group of Atiku Abubakar, rather than deplete as being wrongly postulated, has instead increased exponentially”.

Additionally, he conveyed his trust in the judicial system, expressing his belief that the tribunal would guarantee the delivery of justice in their quest for their rightful mandate. 

“I am optimistic and I believe you share same optimism that the tribunal will do justice to our mandate,” Dagogo aded.
