Cute Abiola Reflects on 30 Days in Detention – “The Military Really Humbled Me”

Nigerian skitmaker and content creator, Abdulgafar Ahmad, widely known as Cute Abiola, is contemplating his recent detention.

According to a report by Vistanaij Media in November 2021, Cute Abiola spent ten days in Navy detention. The comedian was reportedly absent, prompting concern from his colleague in the comedy industry, Debo Adedayo, also known as Mr. Macaroni, who raised an alarm after Cute Abiola failed to report to his office in Navy Town, Lagos.

After two days, a Navy commander clarified that Cute Abiola was not missing but detained for violating military regulations by posting a video of himself in military uniform on social media, contravening the armed forces’ social media policy.

The commander further explained that Cute Abiola failed to respond when summoned to provide an explanation. He only returned after his leave expired on November 15, 2021, and was subsequently incarcerated on the same day.

Following a trial for misconduct and indiscipline, Cute Abiola was eventually released after 18 days in detention to serve his punishment.

Reflecting on his experience, Cute Abiola acknowledged that his time in detention, lasting 30 days, was humbling. Despite this, he expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces.
