Four individuals involved in financing Boko Haram have been convicted and handed prison sentences by the Federal High Court in Nigeria.

The convicted individuals are Zana Zarama, Modu Aisami, Umar Mohammed, and Bunu Kame.

During a special trial held at the Federal High Court in Dawaki, Abuja, the defendants pleaded guilty to charges brought against them by the Federal Government. The prosecution was led by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, while the defense counsel was led by F. A. Bakre, the Director of the Criminal Justice Department at the Legal Aid Council (LAC).

One of the defendants, Aisami, was accused of providing funds to the terrorist group by purchasing food products from them, with the knowledge that the proceeds would be used for terrorist activities. This act was deemed an offense under Section 13(1)(a)(ii) of the Terrorism Provision Amendment Act, 2013.

After Aisami admitted his guilt, trial Justice Nyako convicted him on counts 2 and 3 of the charge. The judge sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment for each offense, with the sentences to run concurrently.
