Nigerian vocalist Chike has faced criticism for his thoughtless remark about the extravagant wedding of celebrity fashion designer Veekee James.

In recent days, the prominent fashion designer and her spouse have been grabbing headlines with their opulent wedding celebration.

On the final day of the wedding, Saturday, the fashion designer caused a sensation online when she enlisted a choir of 200 members to perform at her white wedding.

A video circulating on the internet captured the bride leading a worship session with her 100 choir members. The footage also showed her instructing the choirs to kneel during the worship.

Chike, the singer, grew weary of the excessive display and, more importantly, the worship session. He took to the comments section of a blog to leave a tactless remark, telling the fashion designer to take a break.

He simply wrote, “Rest.”

His comment elicited mixed reactions. While some agreed with him, others criticized him for suggesting that a bride should rest on her most significant day.
