Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa, Presents 23 Individuals Suspected of Oil Theft in Delta
Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), has conducted a parade of twenty-three individuals suspected of engaging in oil theft.
The suspects were apprehended on the vessel MT Kali, which was found to be carrying stolen crude oil. The parade took place during General Musa’s inspection of the vessel at the TANTITA operational base in Oporoza community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, located along the Escravos River in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
During the interrogation of the suspects, Maj. Gen. Musa expressed his determination to take strong action against oil thieves involved in their illicit activities within the country.
In a conversation with journalists, he commended the TANTITA Security operatives and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for their joint efforts in apprehending the vessel and all of its crew members involved in the theft of crude oil.
Maj. Gen. Musa, accompanied by high-ranking military officials and the Group Chief Operating Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, emphasized the importance of collaboration with security agencies in combating the activities of oil thieves.
He assured that the military would handle the vessel according to established protocols and procedures, adhering to standard practices.
Expressing satisfaction with the arrest of the ship, he highlighted its significance as a major achievement in the efforts to combat criminal activities within the maritime environment.
We are united as a team, as fellow Nigerians, and this is our country. The activities taking place here are acts of criminality that must be halted by any means necessary. I want to emphasize that all Nigerians must come together to ensure an end to these actions.
Our nation is suffering. We need to take all necessary measures to allow our country to grow and develop, and that begins with stopping criminals like these.
It should be noted that the vessel was apprehended as a result of the collaborative efforts of TANTITA Security Limited and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
