The Epix television show Chapelwaite was described as being a ten episode limited series that would tell the story of Stephen King’s short story Jerusalem‘s Lot, which was a prequel to his novel Salem’s Lot… but it proved to be so successful for the network, they’re moving forward with a season 2.

Epix announced (via ComicBook.com) that

Chapelwaite Season 2 continues as a terrifying re-imagining of classic gothic horror that chronicles one family’s battle with an ancient and persistent evil. We will learn that the Boone curse didn’t die with Jakub, and despite Charles’s selfless act at the end of season one, De Vermis Mysteriis remains as powerful as ever, and as alluring to a new generation of vampires.

The first season of Chapelwaite was set in the 1850s and followed

Captain Charles Boone, who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.

Adrien Brody (Predators) played Captain Charles Boone. He was joined in the cast by Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek), who is taking on the role of Rebecca Morgan,

an ambitious young woman who left Preacher’s Corners to attend Mount Holyoke College, and has returned home with an advance to write a story for the new and prestigious Atlantic Magazine. Her writer’s block lifts when Boone arrives in town with his children, and despite her mother’s protests, Rebecca applies to be governess of the infamous Chapelwaite manor and the Boone family in order to write about them. In doing so, Rebecca will not only craft the next great gothic novel, she’ll unravel a mystery that has plagued her own family for years.

Hampshire had previously given ComicBook.com a heads-up that a second season of the show might happen, as she had asked if she could take a piece of artwork from the set and was told, “Let’s just be sure we’re not going for another season. We’ll get back to you.” With season 2 ordered, it doesn’t sound like she’ll be getting that artwork any time soon.
