Burna Boy and Tems steal the show with their looks at the 2023 Met Gala

The world’s biggest fashion event, The Met Gala, made a full-force comeback on May 1st, 2023. The event saw some of the biggest names and forces from various industries such as fashion, entertainment, movies, modeling, and more, gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute in New York City on Monday evening.

The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball, was previously called the Costume Institute Gala, and it is an annual fundraising event held to benefit the Museum of Arts. This prestigious event is regarded as fashion’s big night out, and only the top power players from various industries receive invitations to attend.

This year’s Met Gala theme was “In honor of Karl,” which was dedicated to honoring the late Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld.

As expected, the top celebrities brought their A-games to the event, strutting the red carpet with their endearing looks. Among them were Rihanna and her lover, ASAP Rocky, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Naomi Campbell, Cardi B, and more.

Nigerians were proud as their award-winning singers, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, and Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, made their debut appearance. The Afrobeats stars stunned the red carpet, looking enchanting with their outfits.

Burna Boy donned a matching black and blue slightly checkered outfit, with a generous cape-like extension of the same material flowing behind him. Meanwhile, Tems wore a Custom Rober Wun dress, a black corset-like top, a flowing regal white finish at the bottom, and elbow-length gloves. Dunsun Wright styled Tems for the event, and unlike her Oscar outfit, her dress did not block anyone’s view.
