Burna Boy and Tems Secure Multiple Nominations for the BET Awards

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, also known as Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has garnered four nominations for the upcoming 2023 edition of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

In the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist category, Burna Boy will be competing against esteemed international acts such as Drake, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, and Usher, among others. Additionally, he has been nominated for Video Director of the Year for his contribution to the visually captivating interpretation of his hit single “Last Last,” where he faces stiff competition from Asap Rocky, Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar, Director X, and more.

Burna Boy’s outstanding track “Last Last” has earned him two more nominations in the Viewer’s Choice category and the highly competitive Best International Act category.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Tems has received three nominations, including a nomination for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. She has also secured two shared nominations with Future and Drake for their collaboration on the track “Wait for You,” which has been nominated in both the Best Collaboration and Viewer’s Choice categories.

Furthermore, Asake and Ayra Starr have each earned a nomination. Asake will be vying for the Viewer’s Choice award in the Best New International Act category, while Ayra Starr will be contending against Burna Boy in the Best International Act category.

The BET Awards is an esteemed American award show presented by the Black Entertainment Television network. It celebrates the achievements of black entertainers in music, film, sports, and philanthropy on an annual basis.
