Renowned advocate for gay rights, Bisi Alimi, has recently commented on a news report regarding Pope Francis’ decision to permit priests to bless same-sex marriages.

Taking to Instagram, Alimi expressed admiration for the progressive priests who embraced this development. He highlighted the significance of Pope Francis, a prominent figure in the Christian world, openly supporting same-sex unions. Alimi noted the contrast to the conservative views on homosexuality often found in Nigeria, where discussions frequently involve references to Hellfire and the End Times.

Alimi questioned the conflicting beliefs within Nigeria, pondering how individuals reconcile their opposition to same-sex relationships with the Pope’s acceptance of such unions. He highlighted the apparent contradiction between the Pope’s stance and the prevalent Nigerian sentiment that considers homosexuality morally wrong and deserving of eternal damnation.

It is worth mentioning that Bisi Alimi has been a vocal advocate on LGBTQ+ issues. In August 2023, he criticized Bobrisky for his comments on a mass gay wedding in Delta state. Initially mistaken as a conventional wedding, a video was later revealed to depict a mass gay wedding. Bobrisky expressed the view that those arrested deserved punishment, drawing a strong rebuke from Alimi, who referred to him as a fool for holding such an opinion.

In a separate revelation in November 2022, Bisi Alimi shared the results of a DNA test he underwent. Celebrating his 60th anniversary, the 47-year-old disclosed that he is 75% Nigerian and 25% Benin and Togo. The DNA results also uncovered a painful aspect, tracing his ancestors’ origins to a sugar plantation in Haiti.
