Arewa Youths Accuse Wike of Appointing Exclusive Local Associates in FCT

The Reformed Arewa Youth Coalition (RAYC) has raised concerns over the alleged bias in the appointment process by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The group held a press conference in Abuja, where they accused Wike of disregarding the principle of federal character in his appointments and treating the FCT as his personal fiefdom.

Comrade Attahiru Musa, the President of RAYC, expressed dissatisfaction with the lopsided nature of the appointments made by Wike. Musa criticised Wike for turning the FCT into an extension of Rivers State and neglecting the importance of inclusive representation in the Centre of Unity.

The Arewa Youth Coalition urged the FCT Minister to reconsider his approach and avoid exacerbating ethnic and religious divides that could potentially disrupt the fragile peace in the FCT. They emphasized that Wike should prioritise his role as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory rather than focusing solely on his affiliations with Rivers State.

The group further criticised the lack of adherence to the principle of Federal Character in all appointments made by the FCT Minister. They stressed that such actions undermine the unity that the Federal Capital Territory symbolises and called for an end to this perceived ethnic bias.
