Brigadier General Muktar Adamu, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, has expressed his apprehension regarding the negative portrayal of military activities, asserting that such reporting significantly undermines the morale of officers.

During a meeting held in Akure, he engaged with executive members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ondo State chapter, and urged the media to adopt a fair, objective, and fact-based approach when covering military operations.

Brig Gen Adamu emphasised during the discussion that negative media coverage profoundly affects the morale of military personnel. He called upon journalists to uphold accuracy in their reporting without jeopardising national security.

Acknowledging journalism’s critical role as a watchdog, he appealed for support and encouragement from the Nigerian populace. Adamu reassured the public, affirming the army’s active collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the safety of the nation and its citizens.

He commended the proactive role played by women journalists in the state, recognizing their dedication to amplifying women’s voices and addressing their concerns. He further pledged unwavering support from the Army to the association.

Earlier in the meeting, Tola Gbadamosi, Chairperson of Ondo NAWOJ, sought the brigade’s collaboration and cooperation to foster a harmonious working relationship. Gbadamosi underscored the significance of mutual support and partnership in achieving shared objectives, expressing the association’s readiness to collaborate closely with the military.
