On Wednesday, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their significant victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The Tribunal, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. The ruling affirmed President Tinubu’s election on February 25, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Governor Abiodun regarded the tribunal’s verdict as a validation of the trust placed in the President by the Nigerian people, as demonstrated in the results of the presidential election. He characterized the judgment as both sound and comprehensive, highlighting the courage displayed by the judges in fulfilling their responsibilities.

“It is heart warming that the tribunal judges did not succumb to intimidation by the opposition, who deployed various antics to sway the judgement in their favour. 

“The judgement is a further testament to the fact that the judiciary is the last hope of our people,” the governor said.
