The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has asserted that only President Bola Tinubu and God possess the authority to countermand his directives.
He made this statement while firmly refuting claims that the price of cement would surge to N9,000 if the government embarked on concrete road construction, dismissing these assertions as false.
Umahi suggested that those propagating such rumors are engaged in a concerted campaign against him, orchestrated by influential figures within the construction industry. These remarks were delivered during a meeting with contractors representing the six geo-political zones at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
He emphasized, “This is my line of instructions, and I will adhere to whatever the President instructs me to do. He is the only one, along with God, who can overturn my instructions; so there’s no need to waste your time reporting me to anyone other than these two.”
The minister reassured that no amount of blackmail or falsehoods would deter him from his course of action.
