Toke Makinwa, the renowned media personality and actress, recently shared insights into her past marriage with Maje Ayinde. In a recent episode of her YouTube vlog series, Toke Moments, she candidly discussed the challenges she faced and the criticism she endured.

Toke expressed her frustration at being held responsible for the breakdown of her marriage, despite her ex-husband’s involvement in fathering a child with another woman. She revealed that there were various interpretations and assumptions about the nature of her relationship, which added to her distress.

As the victim in the situation, Toke found it particularly disheartening to be subjected to blame and judgment for the divorce. The experience left her emotionally traumatized, highlighting the unfairness of the criticism she received in light of her ex-husband’s actions.

She said, “I woke up being talked about on radio, television. People had different versions of what they thought my marriage was, how they thought my marriage was, and possibly what they thought would have led to where we have gotten to.

“I don’t think there is any news in the Nigerian space that has been that chaotic.

“I was trending nonstop on Twitter with people saying the most horrible. I mean, I couldn’t even stop it because it was like, how am I being blamed for a situation that happened to me?”.

Toke Makinwa tied the knot in 2014 and went through a divorce in 2016, citing adultery as the reason for the dissolution of her marriage.
