Tinubu Takes Office as Nigeria’s President at Aso Rock, Holds Meetings with Emefiele and Kyari

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu officially resumed his duties as the 16th President of Nigeria at the Aso Presidential Villa. As part of his activities, Tinubu held a meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr. Mele Kyari.

Arriving at the forecourt of the State House around 2:30 pm, Tinubu entered through the quarter guard gate, which serves as his official entrance. He was warmly received by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Tijjani Umar, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the outgoing Director of Protocol.

Notable attendees at the meeting included CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, NNPCL GCEO Mele Kyari, and a member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Faleke, among others. Together, they accompanied the President to his office following the reception.

While the specific details of the meeting were not disclosed to the public, it is likely that the discussions revolved around matters such as the removal of fuel subsidies and the resulting fuel scarcity. Additionally, other topics that may have been addressed include the unification of foreign exchange and the recent redesign of the Naira, among other pertinent issues.
