Abdulkarim Chukkol, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has appointed the esteemed journalist, Dele Oyewale, as the spokesperson for the anti-graft agency.
This appointment, effective from Thursday, September 28, 2023, has been reported by Vistanaij Media.
In letters dated Thursday, September 28, exclusively obtained by their correspondent, Oyewale was designated as the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, while the previous spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, was reassigned to the role of acting Director of Public Affairs.
Uwujaren confirmed this development when contacted by The PUNCH, stating, “Yes, I’ve been appointed as the acting Director of Public Affairs for the EFCC.”
During his tenure as a practicing journalist, Oyewale contributed to various prominent news outlets, including The News, Tempo, PM News, and Tell Magazine. His exceptional work earned him recognition from the Nigerian Media Merit Awards, where he was named the Industry Reporter of the Year in 2002 and 2003, the Business Reporter of the Year in 2003 and 2005, the Aviation Reporter of the Year in 2004 and 2005, and the Banking and Finance Reporter of the Year in 2005.
Oyewale possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oyo State.
