Augustine Miles Kelechi, notably regarded as Tekno or Alhaji Tekno, is a Nigerian producer, singer, dancer, and songwriter. He was raised in a musically oriented family; his father plays the guitar, so he also began learning at a young age. Tekno is a notable Nigerian artist who has released a numerous albums. He was brought into the limelight by Julius Agwu, a popular comedian.

Early Life and Education

He was born on December 17, 1990, in Bauchi State into a nuclear family of six (five boys and one girl). He hails from Ivo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State. Because his father served in the Nigerian Army, he spent his childhood in various parts of Nigeria, Nassarawa, Kaduna, and Abuja. Tekno Miles began music training when he was eight years old, where he developed the basic knowledge of playing the piano and guitar. He is Spotless’ older brother, also a notable Nigerian artist.

He went to Heritage School, Kaduna for his secondary school certificate education. He completed all his education in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

Career

Tekno Miles’ first contract was signed with K-Money Entertainment. The label came across his debut track “Holiday,” a song which featured Davido on vocals, was welcomed and got massive exposure.

Tekno Miles was applauded for his performance of “Onye Ne Kwu,” where he remixed Ice Prince’s Oleku,” in 2012, which caught the attention of Julius Agwu, a notable Nigerian comedian. He became friends with Iyanya and Made Men Music Group manager Ubi Franklyn on the spot after his performance. Tekno Miles was finally convinced by Ubi and Iyanya to change residence to Lagos in order to boost his musical career.

He reached a recording agreement with Made Men Music Group (MMMG) on October 5, 2013, whereafter major hit tracks including “Dance” and “Anything” was released. He was nominated for “Best New Act of the Year” at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards because of these singles. “Duro” was commended awesomely both in Africa and the US. On November 16, 2015, a remix with Phyno and Flavour N’abania was made available. On the international stage, it peaked at number 5 on Capital XTRA’s Afrobeats Chart. It topped a number of charts in Nigeria. Tekno Miles then released another single titled “Wash” on November 20.

However, DJ Cuppy featured Tekno in a song titled “Green Light” on October 13, 2017, making it DJ Cuppy’s debut single. Tekno was shown as one of the producers of Swae Lee and Drake’s song “Won’t Be Late” on Thursday, August 15, 2019.

Tekno made a distribution agreement with UK-based Island Records and Universal Music Group Nigeria (UMGN), a branch of Universal Music Group responsible for West Africa, in June 2018.

Tekno appeared in the song “Don’t Jealous Me” from Beyoncé’s Lion King”: The Gift soundtrack in July 2019. He unveiled the tracklist for his eagerly anticipated debut album, Old Romance, on December 6, 2020.

Personal Life

Tekno is in a relationship with Rachel Akosua Garton, also known as Lola Rae, a singer and dancer. In May 2018, they welcomed a child.

Tekno discloses that he would be moving to the United States in 2020. This was in response to the June 2 announcement that a proposal to rename Nigeria as the United African Republic, or the United Alkebulan Republic, had been made to the Nigerian National Assembly.

In 2017, Tekno told the public that he suffers from acid reflux. His vocal cords were impacted by the disease, which had gotten more complex. He required surgery to address the problem.
