Teachers Union Calls for Justice in the Case of Slain Teacher in Taraba

The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Taraba State has called for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators responsible for the brutal murder of secondary school teacher Bassey Sardauna Nkuphee.

In a statement signed by the NUT chairman, Nathan Solomon, the union expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident and urged the state government to take proactive measures to prevent such barbaric acts from happening in the future.

While the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) had previously issued a directive to suspend academic activities across the state, the NUT advised its members to remain calm and continue with their academic duties. However, it noted that GDSS Model, a specific school, would remain closed to ensure the safety of staff and students.

The NUT’s demand for justice highlights the need to address the heinous crime committed against the teacher and reinforces the importance of ensuring the safety and security of educators in Taraba State.
