The Sokoto State Police, in preparation for the governorship election tribunal’s judgment scheduled for Saturday, has enforced a ban on any form of procession.
Commissioner of Police for the state, Mr. Ali Kaigama, made this announcement through a statement issued by ASP Ahmad Rufai, the Police Command’s spokesperson in Sokoto.
The ban was put in place due to concerns that there might be intentions to hold processions or celebrations related to the upcoming judgment. Sokoto State has earned a reputation for being one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, and the authorities aim to uphold that peaceful image.
Commissioner Kaigama made it abundantly clear that any form of procession or gathering that violates the law or disrupts the peace would not be tolerated. Law enforcement agencies are fully prepared and equipped to safeguard the lives and property of citizens. Residents are encouraged to report any potential concerns to the police and relevant security authorities promptly.
Kaigama emphasized the importance of the people’s cooperation and vigilance in maintaining the peace and security that Sokoto State values. He called on residents to collectively support security agencies in preserving the state as a beacon of peace and harmony.
