Senator Akpabio alleges sponsored protests against increasing cost of living

During a session in the Upper Chamber on Tuesday, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, expressed his belief that some of the street protests against the increasing cost of living in the country are sponsored.

Akpabio highlighted that the protesters are not fully aware of the efforts being made by the Senate and the Federal Government to address the situation.

He stated, “You can see a lot of sponsored protests here and there, but those people are not aware. Most of those sponsored protesters are not aware of the kind of efforts made by this senate to tackle the situation together with the management team of the federal government.”

Recent protests against the economic hardship have taken place in various parts of the country, with the most recent occurring in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, on Monday.

Residents in Niger, Kano, and Sokoto States have also taken to the streets to voice their concerns about the prevailing economic challenges.
