As the troops approached, the bandits opened fire but were swiftly overpowered by the superior and overwhelming firepower of the troops. Two bandits were neutralized, while the remaining bandits fled in disarray.

In the course of the operation, the troops also seized valuable items, including one AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 rifle magazines, five 7.62mm (special) ammunition, two locally made hand grenades, four handsets, two motorcycles, spanners, screwdrivers, and two bags.

Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, called upon the general public to continue providing credible information to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
