Saudi Arabia Provides Explanation for Deportation of Nigerians

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Abuja has issued a statement clarifying the reasons behind the deportation of Nigerians from the Saudi Kingdom.

The statement comes after 264 passengers were informed of the cancellation of their visas upon landing at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on November 13, 2023.

According to the embassy’s statement, the deported individuals did not meet the entry conditions and requirements as stipulated by the Kingdom’s rules and regulations. It was discovered that they had provided incorrect information in order to obtain a visa category that did not apply to them.

The embassy emphasized the importance of adhering to the procedures and laws established by Saudi Arabia for all visitors. They urged passengers to carefully review their documents to ensure compliance with the conditions before departing from their home countries to the Kingdom. The embassy noted that this procedure was not exclusive to Nigerian citizens but applied to citizens of other countries as well.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has called for calm in response to the deportations, and the statement from the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia provides an explanation for the actions taken.
