The Lagos Force Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 2 in Alagbon, has disclosed that they summoned music promoter, Samson Balogun, widely recognised as Sam Larry, and a few others. This action was taken in response to a June 27 petition by the late artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known to fans as Mohbad, which cited allegations of assault and other complaints.

Moreover, the police department commented that Sam Larry’s legal representative, alongside lawyers for other individuals involved, retorted with a counter-petition against Mohbad. This action was taken after the singer neglected to present himself to defend the claims he made. Documents surfaced revealing that Mohbad, on June 27, 2023, lodged a complaint of threats, damage, and more, against the music promoter, Samson Balogun, and some associates. Mohbad’s statement described an episode at a video shoot, where he and another artiste, Omoniyi Temidayo, known as Zlatan Ibile, faced threats and witnessed the destruction of equipment worth over N5 million.

In a recent conversation with The Punch, the spokesperson for the Lagos Annex of the FCID, Oluniyi Ogundeyi, explained the challenges faced by the police in investigating the matter, especially given Mohbad’s absence to back his claims. Ogundeyi commented on the singer’s no-show, saying that despite numerous attempts to reach out to Mohbad, he never responded. This lack of cooperation hindered the police’s ability to conduct a thorough inquiry and proceed to legal actions.

Earlier, Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, issued a statement expressing condolences and ensuring a meticulous investigation into Mohbad’s sudden death. He emphasised the police’s commitment to revealing the truth behind the events leading to the singer’s passing. Adejobi’s message concluded with a plea, urging people to cooperate with the investigation and not to jeopardise the process.
