According to the Lagos Annex of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2, Alagbon, music promoter Samson Balogun (known as Sam Larry) and singer Azeez Fashola (known as Naira Marley) have not been summoned for questioning in relation to the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (known as Mohbad).
This information was confirmed by Oluniyi Ogundeyi, the spokesperson for the Lagos Annex of the FCID.
Ogundeyi stated, “The report is false; it is a lie; no one has been arrested. The police did not arrest Naira Marley or Sam Larry,” in response to the circulating rumors. The rumors claimed that Naira Marley, Mohbad’s former boss, had repeatedly instigated Sam Larry and others to intimidate and assault the deceased due to his departure from Marlians Records.
Following the emergence of a video online showing Sam Larry and others harassing Mohbad, both Sam Larry and Naira Marley faced backlash on social media. In the video, Mohbad and another singer, Omoniyi Temidayo (known as Zlatan Ibile), were on the set of a music video when Sam Larry and his associates approached, targeting Mohbad, who quickly fled in fear. Zlatan intervened to prevent any attack or bullying towards Mohbad.
The video triggered anger among Nigerian social media users, who flooded Naira Marley and Sam Larry’s Instagram pages with criticism for their alleged bullying and threats towards the late singer.
As a result of the widespread cyber attacks, Sam Larry, an associate of Naira Marley, deactivated his Instagram account.
