Ahmed Habu Sani, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) responsible for overseeing the governorship election in Kogi State, has issued a stern warning to political thugs, urging them to stay away from the upcoming November 11 election in the state.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Command headquarters in Lokoja, the Police DIG assured the public of the security agencies’ preparedness to ensure a free and fair election. He emphasized that anyone found involved in orchestrating violence would be promptly arrested and prosecuted. Sani stressed the importance of politicians adhering to the rules of the game, while highlighting the resolute commitment of the security agencies to achieve a transparent electoral process.
To facilitate easy identification of security personnel, Sani mentioned that all relevant security agencies would be present across the 21 Local Government Areas during the election, and they would be provided with identification tags.
The DIG emphasized that individuals or groups with intentions to cause violence or disrupt the election should reconsider their actions. He made it clear that those caught engaging in such activities would be dealt with impartially and without hesitation.
Sani urged the people of Kogi State to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure a peaceful conduct of the election, emphasizing the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in maintaining a secure and conducive environment for the electoral process.
