The former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the recent election, Peter Obi, has submitted an appeal to the Supreme Court consisting of 51 grounds.
This appeal comes in response to his dissatisfaction with the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which had previously dismissed his case.
To provide some context, Peter Obi had originally taken his case to the Tribunal, seeking a declaration that he should be declared the winner of the February 25 Presidential Election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had officially declared Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the victor of the election.
Despite the tribunal’s decision to uphold Bola Tinubu’s victory, both Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remain committed to challenging INEC’s declaration in the courts. As a result, Peter Obi has now filed his petition with the Supreme Court, continuing the legal battle to contest the election outcome.
