The Federal Ministry of Agriculture has been urged to give prominence to training and evaluation of farmers across the country for the attainment of the diversification agenda.
Participants at the Daily Trust Farmers Forum and Exhibition made the call in an interactive session in Lafia.
They said constant training, monitoring and education of farmers are key to food security.
Speaking at the event, head of marketing and strategy of the Rossland Group, Angela Korinjoh, described the farmers forum as very educative and the platform provides interactions that help to drive the vision and passion of the government to transit from oil to agricultural sector.
Korinjoh said farmers needed to be educated on how to keep their records, so that they could change their orientation cash flows.
“I have an appeal to the government on constant trainings, monitoring and evaluation of farmers; these will go a long way in achieving the desired goal. The farmer needed to understand how to keep records. This kind of forum will change the farmer’s thinking and by doing so the farmers will be encouraged and they will have a sense of belonging,” Korinjoh said.
