The highly anticipated inauguration of the 10th National Assembly is finally set to take place on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

This information was disclosed in an announcement issued on Thursday by Sani Tambawal, the Clerk to the National Assembly.

During this significant event, a total of 109 Senators-elect and 359 members-elect of the House of Representatives will participate in the official swearing-in ceremony. It is worth noting that the number of House of Representatives members was initially 360, but it decreased to 359 following the unfortunate passing of Isma’ila Maihanchi, who was elected to represent Jalingo, Yerro, and Zing Federal Constituency from Taraba State.

Tambawal further outlined the procedural requirements for the senators-elect and members-elect. They are expected to bring their code of conduct clearance, certificates of return, and valid identity cards for registration on Monday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m. Specifically, the senators-elect will gather in Senate conference room 231, while the members-elect will assemble in House of Representatives conference room 301.

Lastly, it is important to note that only the senators-elect and members-elect will be granted access to the legislative chambers during this period, as specified by Tambawal.

“Due to the ongoing renovation of the two chambers, senators-elect and Honourable members-elect are to come along with only one guest for the ceremony, who will be seated at the arcade,” he said.
