His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien, the traditional ruler of Asaba, the capital of Delta State, has passed away.
The 13th Asagba of Asaba joined his ancestors on Wednesday.
Obi Edozien had recently begun activities to celebrate his upcoming 100th birthday anniversary. In his remarks, he expressed concern over the declining state of the country’s economy, as well as the deepening issues of corruption and ethnic biases.
While the palace has not yet issued an official statement regarding the monarch’s demise, his passing marks the end of an era in Asaba.
