Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has issued a stern caution to corps members, urging them to avoid any form of misconduct that could lead to trouble during their service year.
He emphasized that individuals who violate NYSC bylaws and other laws of the country would face appropriate sanctions.
The Director-General conveyed this message during his visit to the NYSC Kano State Orientation Camp in Kusallah Dam Karaye and the Katsina State Orientation Camp. He congratulated the corps members on successfully completing their courses of study and highlighted that improper dressing in NYSC uniforms would attract penalties.
He stated, “You must always dress well, especially while in NYSC uniforms. Wherever you are posted, ensure that you respect the culture and traditions of the people you are going to serve. NYSC will not tolerate any form of indiscipline. Avoid hard drugs, hooliganism, cybercrimes, and other social vices that may land you in trouble. Utilize the service year to develop yourselves.”
During the Director-General’s visit, the NYSC Kano State Coordinator, Hajiya Halima Abdulkareem Abubakar, presented a report on the camp situation. She commended the corps members for demonstrating high levels of honesty, dedication to duty, and unwavering loyalty to the Scheme.
At the time of General Ahmed’s visit, a total of 1,734 corps members, consisting of 871 males and 863 females, were registered at the Kano camp.
Similarly, the Katsina State Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed, reported that a total of 348 camp officials, including 167 NYSC staff and 181 personnel from other collaborating agencies, along with 1,292 corps members (686 males and 606 females), were working together to achieve the desired outcomes of the orientation exercise.
She stated, “The corps members are in high spirits and ready to contribute their quota to national development.”
