The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of fully armed tactical personnel to secure the borders between Nigeria and Niger Republic, specifically through Katsina State.
Mr. Jamilu Indabawa, the NSCDC Commandant in Katsina State, made this known during a courtesy visit by the new Katsina Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Muhammad Umar.
Indabawa highlighted that the deployment of personnel is part of the ongoing collaboration between security agencies in the state to ensure the safety and security of the people. He expressed appreciation for the existing working relationship between the NSCDC and the Customs Service in the state.
Furthermore, Indabawa emphasized that the command will continue to work closely with the Customs Service, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing and joint operations.
In response, Mr. Umar called for increased synergy in joint operations, intelligence sharing, and border drills. He reiterated the importance of collaboration, stating that the Nigeria Customs Service cannot solely address the security challenges, given the vast geographical area of the state. Umar acknowledged that the NSCDC, with its grassroots presence across the state, has a crucial role to play in enhancing security.
The deployment of armed tactical personnel by the NSCDC aims to bolster border security and ensure the effective monitoring and control of movement along the Nigerian borders with Niger Republic.
