The passing of Nebo and other colleagues in the entertainment industry has evoked a somber response and heartfelt tributes. Shaibu Husseini, a movie journalist and arts administrator, shared the news of Nebo’s demise on X on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
Accompanied by a picture of Nebo, Husseini captioned, “I have received reliable information that Pat Nebo, a prominent Nigerian production designer, has passed away. He had been unwell for some time. Farewell to the master of the craft of film production design.”
Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan paid tribute to Nebo by sharing pictures of him on Instagram, stating, “You will forever be a part of me. Rest in peace, champ.”
In response to Afolayan’s post, actor Kunle Remi expressed, “My goodness! Rest in peace.” Actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie wrote, “Oh my God, rest on sir,” in her own tribute.
Nebo dedicated three decades of his life, from 1993 to 2023, to the film industry. His notable works as a production designer include ‘Arugba,’ ‘Being Mrs Elliot,’ ‘The Figurine,’ ‘Phone Swap,’ ‘October 1,’ ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun,’ and ’76.’
In another sad development, actress Cindy Amadi, known for her role in the lesbian-themed movie “Ife,” has also passed away. The producers of the movie confirmed her demise on Thursday, September 14, 2023, through an Instagram post.
The post conveyed, “We are greatly, deeply, and unbelievably saddened to learn about the passing of Cindy Amadi, who portrayed Adaora in the movie ‘Ife.’
“We cannot begin to imagine the pain and loss her family feels right now. On behalf of our entire cast and crew, we send our deepest condolences to her family and wish them all the comfort they need at this time.
“Rest in peace, Cindy. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. We will always remember you, and you will live on in our hearts forever.”
Additionally, Omowunmi, the wife of actor Olalekan Olatunji, passed away during the week. Olatunji shared the news of her demise on Thursday through a series of posts. He posted a video of her dancing with the caption, “You accepted me the way I was 16 years ago. You taught me how to be closer to God and stay focused. I have entrusted my children’s upbringing to God because of my health. Omowunmi Olatunji, please watch over us because I am very weak. I will love you forever. My pillar of strength is gone.”
Tope Alabi, Toyin Adegbola (aka Toyin Tomato), Wunmi Toriola, and Funke Ayinkeade are among the entertainers who have expressed their condolences to Olalekan Olatunji during this difficult time.
