The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has successfully cleared a backlog of over two million requests for National Identification Number (NIN) modifications.
This accomplishment was confirmed by NIMC’s Acting Director-General, Engineer Abisoye Coker-Odusote, in a statement released on Wednesday.
Coker-Odusote emphasized that this achievement reflects NIMC’s commitment to ensuring that all Nigerians have access to secure and universally recognized identity documentation. Dedicated teams within NIMC have been diligently working to process these backlogs and will continue their efforts to provide citizens with a streamlined experience when obtaining their NINs.
“We recognize the challenges that many Nigerians have faced in the past and appreciate their patience during this period,” Coker-Odusote stated. “Having now cleared over two million outstanding NIN modification applications, we will continue to work tirelessly at all our centers to ensure that any remaining requests are resolved as soon as possible.”
The NIMC Director-General also highlighted the agency’s commitment to improving its communication channels. Efforts are underway to establish a robust communication system that facilitates the logging and resolution of complaints in a timely manner.
