The Nigerian music industry was struck by another tragic incident as the news of rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji, also known as Oladips, passing away began to circulate on Wednesday morning.
His management released a statement confirming the 28-year-old’s demise, stating that he passed away on Tuesday night at approximately 10 p.m.
The statement read, “We are deeply saddened to inform the public of the passing of Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, aka OLADIPS, on the evening of Tuesday, November 14th, at exactly 10:14 p.m. We are still in disbelief!
“For over two years, he battled his personal demons privately, and now his body is in the care of his family. Funeral arrangements will be announced once concluded. The family kindly requests privacy during this challenging time. May we all find the strength to bear this immense loss (amen).”
Interestingly, Oladips had posted concerning messages on his Instagram stories prior to his death.
In one of the posts, he mentioned his friend, @onlyonelifetime, and expressed his worry about their whereabouts. The rapper expressed frustration at not being able to reach his friend on the phone, knowing that he disliked being alone in the house, especially considering his condition.
Subsequently, a video emerged showing Oladips slumped inside a car, causing his friends to panic.
This incident has led to discussions among cynical fans about the role of public relations, who have now realized the seriousness of his situation.
These events bring back memories of Promise Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad (Imole), who passed away on September 12.
Mohbad had been seeking help for several months after leaving Marlian Music, making allegations of intimidation, assault, and bullying against his former bosses.
Unfortunately, no significant action was taken until after his passing, triggering widespread demand for justice.
