The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that domestic airlines are now permitted to operate flights to the United Kingdom and Europe.
Capt. Musa Nuhu, the Director-General of the NCAA, made this disclosure during the 7th Aviation African Summit and Exhibition in Abuja.
He explained that after granting Third Country Operator certificates to Air Peace, Omni Blu, and United Nigeria Airlines (UNA), domestic airlines designated to the UK or certain EU nations can now apply to operate without significant obstacles. Capt. Nuhu emphasized that the NCAA has been proactive in resolving such issues, often requiring just a phone call from the DG to his counterpart DG for swift resolution.
He stated, “We have fought with some European countries, and we have got a TCO (Third Country Operator) certificate for our airlines to operate in these countries.”
This development follows concerns raised by Air Peace Chairman, Mr. Allen Onyema, in July, regarding his airline’s denial to operate flights to London.
