The House of Representatives is gearing up to engage in sectoral debates and deliberations on the 2024 Appropriation Bill.
In a statement released by the spokesperson, Hon. Akin Rotimi, the House Committee on Appropriations has unveiled sectoral allocations for thorough scrutiny.
After two days of debate, the budget successfully passed its second reading in the House on Friday. President Bola Tinubu had presented the budget proposal to the lawmakers on Wednesday.
According to Rotimi, legislative action on the bill is now in full swing. On Saturday, December 2, 2023, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation will brief the leadership of all House Standing Committees on the standardized process for scrutinizing and considering the budget proposal, as well as engaging with the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies for budget defense.
Rotimi emphasized that the 10th Assembly of the House of Representatives remains committed to a transparent, inclusive, and comprehensive process of budget consideration, aligning with their Legislative Agenda.
