Members of the House of Representatives pay tribute to Mohbad and commit to overseeing the ongoing investigation

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives paid tribute to the late Afrobeat singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, who was widely known as Mohbad.

A one-minute silence was held in his memory, and this solemn moment followed a motion of urgent public importance put forward by Babajimi Benson, the representative for Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

In his address to the House, Mr. Benson highlighted the need for concern regarding the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death. He shed light on the artist’s ordeal, including bullying and harassment by his record label due to contractual disagreements.

Mr. Benson called upon the House to consider a review of the Copyrights law to safeguard artists from exploitation by record labels. The motion was embraced by the House, and as a mark of respect for the departed singer, a minute of silence was observed.
