A man identified as Daniel Ooko Alego on Tuesday February 8, appeared before Makadara Law Court in Kenya for reportedly robbing his neighbor who refused to accommodate him.

The suspect who was arraigned alongside two others, allegedly broke into Samuel Mutahi’s house and stole his three laptops, phone and money.

Mutahi said Alego and his accomplices were captured on a CCTV footage while breaking and stealing from his house.

Appearing for the first hearing before Makadara Senior Resident magistrate M. Malingu, Mutahi told the court that Alego committed the offence on August 16, 2021, at Clay City in Kasarani, Sub-County. He says that accused stole his electronics and cash all amounting to Ksh135,600.

The victim said the robbery incident occurred after he left his house with his wife. Mutahi said;

“I came back at around 9:00 pm and found the door broken and the items were stolen. The following morning, I went to ask for help from the caretaker who reviewed the CCTV footage.

“That was when we saw Alego and the other two; a woman and a man committing the crime.”

Mutahi further disclosed that Alego once approached him to sleep in his house, but he was not comfortable with the request.

He added;

“He asked me to allow him to sleep in my house because he had lost his job and he did not have money to afford better accommodation, but I could not allow him.”

The matter will be mentioned on February 25.
